Blog swaps are so much fun. Not only did I make a new friend but I just got this beauty in the mail!

My favorite is the journals. They are soo adorable they make me not even want to write in them!

Patience is a Virtue

... that I do not possess.

I hate to wait. Recently, the idea of having to wait 10 more months to get married leaves me feeling anxious, upset, overwhelmed and just plain sad.

I'm over the planning, budgeting, envisioning and thinking.

I just want to be married already!

However, I know there is a reason why we can't just run off and get hitched (even though that sounds so tempting). I know that in the midst of all my annoyance, God has a plan. I'm always wanting to rush and speed up life. I seem to forget that His timing has, is, and will always be perfect.

I am currently taking a break from the wedding planning (I know, it's barely been two months). I need it. I need to focus more on the marriage preparing aspect. Is my heart ready? What are the places in my life I want to grow before entering into marriage? I know I probably won't get to all of them before the big day, but I at least want them apparent.

Deep down I know it will all be worth it. Our day will be the best and all the waiting will just have contributed to it. For now, this is what I have to hold on to.

And in the end, for this man, I would wait 100 more years.

DIY Wedding Guestbook

Last week I found this Wedding Guestbook idea on Pinterest. I instantly fell in love. Even though it is absolutely adorable, I couldn't justify paying over $50 for a guestbook that I could make my own version of.

I found this tutorial from A Creative Place to turn a re-purposed binder into a recipe book.
Hey! I'm a student! I have old binders!

I also saw some guestbooks that had questions for the guests to answer in them on Pinterest and loved that idea too.

So, why not combine all 3?! It'll be super original and cute and go along with my DIY theme!

YES!

So, here is my take on our guestbook!

I downloaded the envelope pattern on pinterest (which now I can't find) and resized it to fit a post card sized card. I hand cut them all out from coordinating scrap book paper I found on sale at Michaels. (The fabric is from Joann's).

I took file folders, cut them in half, covered them with scrapbook paper, and then cut around the outline of the folder. These will be the sections of questions that we are going to ask our guests to fill out!

Overall it cost about $15 to make. Not too shabby, eh?

It is still a work in progress but it's coming along nicely. I can't wait till it is full of sweet little notes from lovely family and friends!

New Etsy Shop Spotlight: Poppy Fields

My dear, sweet friend Kendal just opened her new Etsy shop!

Her and her friend Emily are in high school and are trying to raise money to go to a Young Life summer camp.

Young Life, if you're not familiar with it, is a great organization for kids and teens that promotes sharing God's love through older leaders and mentors. It's their mission to introduce adolescents to Christ and to share his love with them so they may grow in their faith and start a relationship with Him.

I didn't have Young Life in the town I grew up in but oh, how I wish I did. It is such an amazing organization that pours so much love and truth into a population that is at a very impressionable stage of their lives.

Kendal and Emily need to raise $600 each in order to be able to attend the summer camp. I don't know about you, but when I was 16 I didn't have that kind of cash sitting around.

So, they came up with the brilliant idea of selling key keepers on Etsy!

I absolutely love these things. I have one on my set of keys and it makes it so much more convenient to hold them on your wrist, find them in your purse, and not lose them around the house! Each of their key keepers are $10 and all money will go toward their camp fund!

This one is my favorite :)

The Fish Camp

Last weekend Jed and I went on a little adventure...

To a fish camp.

Okay, so I didn't really know it was a fish camp before we went there. I thought it would be a nice little place to take some pretty pictures. Turned out there were some nice spots...

And some not so nice spots.

Unless of course, you think old boxes and trash make for a good background? Poor little fishies swimming in garbage :(

Personally, I like the whole "finding beauty in the broken" challenge.

Even among the trash and dead fish, we stumbled upon some of God's little gifts.

I also took the opportunity to get some more pictures of my ring. I adore it.

Almost as much as I adore this man.

Just another day for the memory books!

Wedding Update & Inspiration

I never knew just how exhausting/ overwhelming wedding planning could be! Throw in school, to- do lists, 7 hour days of class and a very tight budget and it nearly seems impossible. However, we have made a little progress!

1. We booked our date! It is official that we are getting married on December 16, 2012! Is it silly that I wanted a date with all even numbers? After I settled on the date, however, I found out that my graduation is on the 17th. I was a little annoyed at first but then realized that it will be perfect since all my family will be there and probably wouldn't have been able to be if not for our wedding! Praise the Lord!

2. We booked our venue! It's a little hall/ chapel in a town just north of us and as soon as I saw it I fell in love! Doesn't it look like it came straight out of a Nicholas Sparks book?! It's surrounded by a little park where we are going to have the reception.

3. We found a photographer for our big day! I friend of mine pointed me her direction and I just adore her photos! This is the one thing I have planned that I am most excited about! I feared that I wouldn't find a photographer that had the style that I wanted but as always, God provided! You can find her site here.

4. We asked a very dear friend of Jed's to officiate our wedding! He is such an influential person in his life and I am so blessed he will be able to share the day with us in such a special way.

5. We have also done a few other things like decided our colors (olive, ivory, and burlap), designed our save the dates, and started envisioning what I want the decor to look like.

Basically, it can be summed up into one word: Natural.

This not only represents how I want our wedding to feel but it also represents me! I love everything nature/ clean/ fresh and have a million ideas in my head of how I can incorporate this theme into our wedding! I also want to do as much DIY as I can. I think it'll make it even more special!

Here's a little of what I'm going for...

I am absolutely in love with the fact we are having a winter wedding (even though there's no real winter in Florida) and want to incorporate as much Christmas cheer as I can, such as pine cones, branches, and a hot chocolate/ cider/ and coffee bar!

If any of you married gals have any advice for me please do not hesitate to send it my way!

I love etsy. I love browsing it, gaining inspiration from it, selling on it, and most of all buying from it. I have had my shop for a little under a year and have enjoyed every second of it. I've loved the joy I get from creating a product, posting it in my little store, and getting an email saying that someone wants to buy it! It brightens my day!

Recently, I have fallen in love with design. Illustrator has become my new BFF and my blog has gotten many an update due to this affair. Now, my shop will too!

I've decided to add a new line of custom prints to my shop! I designed each print myself and have been anxiously waiting to introduce them!

With these prints, I am HIGHLY into doing custom orders! I think that they are so much more special when designed by the person themselves and it adds a special touch to the final product.

I am still going to be selling bows and hair accessories, and maybe a few new items. I'm still deciding which way I want to go with these so for now they are staying!

Picnic

Today, we had a picnic.

We discovered this gorgeous place near my apartment that held seclusion, peace, and beauty.

We packed some PB and J's, carrots, popcorn, a few books and went on our way.

Sitting there under the shaded canopy of moss, leaves and branches, I met with God. I saw him in the sun reflecting off the water, the blue sky, the parade of trees, and the boy sitting across from me. I felt him in the breeze, the warmth on my back, and the grass between my toes. I heard him in the wind and in the cry of the herons on the lake.

I was overwhelmed with gratitude, barely able to count the number of things I was thankful for in those precious moments.

Peace, contentment, love, happiness.

Thank you, Father.

From Empty to Full

Truth: Today was the first day, in over two weeks, that I sat down and read my Bible. That I opened up my journal and wrote a letter to God. That I made time to spend with Him.

I could blame this lack of devotion on a disrupted routine from the Holidays, my recent engagement celebrations and planning, or on new preparations for school, all in the midst of being sick.

But the only real excuse, the only real reason I haven't intentionally made time to spend with God is because I chose not to. I chose other things, things of this world, before Him. I entered upon the new year with determination. I was determined to truly, honestly, put God in the center of my life. What does that look like? What, in my heart of hearts, is before Him, my maker, my Lord? Truthfully, there is a ton of things before Him. My upcoming wedding, my fiance, books, my computer, crafts, this blog, our new Wii, shopping, food, television. This list goes on and on. I put it all on the top of my to- do list. I put it all on top of Him.

Strange thing is, some of this stuff I hate. Really? I put school before my Creator? Why? Why do I do this? Why do I choose to live this way when I have been shown time and time again that my way only brings me to one place: death. Why do I keep going down this road when I know that surrendering everything, giving everything to Him leads me to a life of joy and fullness.

Not only do I choose to follow my path instead of His, in the end, I feel guilty about it. Now, this is something that has been on my heart for a while. A prayer that I have been praying for a while. The prayer is to rearrange my thinking that what I do or do not do determines how much God loves me. I have chosen material things over Him for over a month, and if I am honest, probably longer than that. But, does that change His love for me? No. Does that make me a bad Christian? No. Does it make my Father sad? Yes.
Guilt is a lie that Satan uses to trap us. I feel guilty for not spending time with God and eventually I feel as though I am not worthy of His presence, so I put off spending time with God even more. How brilliant is Satan's plan? How often does he succeed? How many lives are suffering merely because people feel their actions have caused God to stop loving them and thus they are no longer worthy of him?

We will never be worthy!

I will never be worthy. I will always be a sinner. I will always struggle with the temptations of this world.
But.
But, God still loves me. His love is unwavering, unending, unconditional. It will never fail, no matter how many times I do. He will never leave me, no matter how many times I leave him.

I am determined. Determined that this year will be the starting point for the rest of my life. Determined that this year, the world and all that it holds no longer has a grasp on my heart. Determined that this year, my life will truly become full. No more guilt, no more lies, no more putting God on the back burner. I am determined that this year, my life will truly begin.

I'm a pretty nostalgic person. I still get waves of sadness thinking about my old high school days (I loved high school) and college undergraduate years. I miss old friends often and hate when I can't remember certain things about the past (like what songs I used to listen to or the toys I played with as a kid). I usually tell myself that it's not healthy to be living in the past, which is certainly true, but am now understanding that reflecting back on life in a good way with a happy attitude is something that I need. It keeps me grounded, allows me to look back at my life and thank God for all he has blessed me with and makes me happy.

Recently, I've been looking forward. Which also can turn out to be not the healthiest thing. Wishing for things in the future to hurry up and get here takes me out of my present situation and circumstances. I often miss the moment that I am currently in and then find myself missing it when it's gone.

I need a lesson in being in the present time. Living in the moment. Being aware of what is going on around me right here and now and not taking one second for granted. For 2012, that is my goal, my change.

But as for now, in the few days left of the wonderful year, I'm looking forward in patient anticipation to the wonderful things that 2012 holds and saying goodbye, for now, to the blessings and memories that showered me in 2011.

Dear 2012, as of now, this is what you entail...

A New Season

In the past few days I have entered upon a new season of life, one that has been anticipated for a long time. One that has made a noticeable difference already in my day to day routine yet has been welcomed with big, wide, open arms.
It's funny how being engaged already makes our relationship feel different.

Engaged.

It still hasn't fully hit me yet.
Our future Is no longer a question of "what if" but has made its way to "when". It is exciting beyond words knowing that with each passing day I am closer to becoming a wife, a lifelong partner, 100% his. I still have a lot of preparation before that day but am so ready for this season of change, celebration, and promise.

God has been working in my heart for a while, giving me peace and assurance that His timing is perfect and urging me to fully surrender this area of my life to him. It is extremely satisfying to see it finally come into bloom. Isn't is incredible when we get to see the plan He has for us revealed right before our eyes? I have been praying for my future husband since I was 13 years old. Praying that he would be a strong man of God, a leader of our relationship, a man who compliments, encourages me and is full of love, grace and. Once again, God has fulfilled his promise to me.
How great is our God?!
Let the doubt in my heart in the storms of this life be erased and replaced with a firm hold on his truth. Let His past faithfulness be an indicator of his future and everlasting faithfulness.

My heart is so full. Joy, happiness, peace, and thankfulness for my Lord overwhelms my soul. Not all transitions in this life are happy ones and I praise my Lord for blessing us as He has.
Thank you, Lord. Thank you.

We were just too smitten to wait so on Christmas day we headed over to the UNC Chapel Hill campus and documented the first official day of our engagement!

Also, we got my ring yesterday! I am so incredibly blessed and absolutely love it! Isn't it just gorgeous?? I'm glad we got to get some pictures with the ring Jed proposed with but am anxious to get pictures with this baby too!

A Christmas to Remember

It was Christmas Eve morning.

I heard him wake up around 7:30. I was half asleep and still tired so I went back to bed. I then woke up again to him telling me that I've slept enough and it was time to get up. He was taking me to breakfast.

He told me we were going to a place called Beyu Caffe because apparently they have really good waffles there? On our way to the restaurant, Jed made a familiar turn to a park that we had been to before called Eno River. I looked at him confusingly and he just smiled at me, telling me that we were staring a new tradition and actually going on a picnic. Now, Jed's an awesome picnic maker so I was excited to see what he had in store. As we arrived at the park he opened up the trunk and I saw a picnic basket, a mug of coffee and a present. I asked him what it was and he said a start to another new tradition: opening a present on Christmas Eve.

We walked to the picnic table and he unfolded quite a meal. Bagels, hot coffee, yogurt, a fruit tray and champagne and orange juice sat in front of me. Above me were barren trees and a bright blue sky. It was cold out and I held close to my coffee and stared at the man sitting across from me, knowing I had never loved him more.

Now, you may think I'm just saying this, but I knew something was up. For one, he had been up since 7:30 and kept walking into the room trying to get me to wake up. He also took a shower and got dressed before I did... not a usual occurrence. But the biggest giveaway was the fact that he was shaking during breakfast, claiming that he was cold. Jed never gets cold.

After I finished my breakfast I couldn't take it any longer. The present sat there staring at me and I just had to open it to see what it held. I asked him if I could and he agreed it was a good time. Upon opening I found a Starbucks coffee tumbler staring back at me. On it it said "Let's Merry". Inside of it was a card we got from a restaurant in Charleston called Hyman's that had 40 promises for marriage as well as a wild card coupon from a coupon book I made from him for our one year anniversary. I loved it! I was just about to pick it up and examine it more when he got down on one knee.

"Mary, for the past two years..."

"JED!!!" I screamed.

"Shhh" he replied.

That's when the tears came. I couldn't really hear what else he said other than he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. All I could do was hug and kiss him. Tell him that I loved him and proclaim my joy through all my tears.

He asked if that was a yes, and without a single doubt in my mind I replied "Yes, of course".

He then explained that if I didn't say yes he was going to use the wild card because this was the thing he most wanted and then I'd have to say yes. Haha.

He slipped the ring on my finger. The ring that his father had given his mother. The ring that I will always cherish. We laughed, cried, kissed, and hugged. We prayed together and thanked God for blessing our relationship and giving us for each other. It was simple. It was us. It was absolutely perfect.

I really can't think of any better season for us to make this promise than during the season that we celebrate God fulfilling His. It was a day we will never forget and I can't wait to celebrate our beginning on the 24th of December for all the years to come. Among the barren trees, bright blue sky and winter air; our forever began.

We're engaged!

I'll Be Home for Christmas

Jed and I headed (to my) home on Thursday in North Carolina.

On the way up we stopped in Columbia, SC to check out USC's PT program as Jed just was accepted there. It was so pretty there and the program seems really great. I'm so excited for him on this graduate school searching adventure and I can't wait to see where he finally ends up!

Yesterday, we headed over to Asheville to watch my niece and nephews so my sister and brother in law could have a little mini vacation. I haven't seen these kiddos in months and it was my first time meeting my absolutely beautiful and precious niece. She is the sweetest thing I've ever seen!

I also love this little bug

Hampton just got some new glasses. Doesn't he look like Ralphie?!

Everett is obsessed with Jed. It just melts my heart seeing how much he loves him and how sweet Jed is with him.

As precious as these little ones are, they are definitely a handful. If you ever need some birth control, babysit three kids under 3 years old for a few days!

I can't wait to see what the rest of our vacation entails! Some fun things we're looking forward to is my aunt coming on Monday, seeing the Nutcracker on Wednesday and hopefully heading up to the mountains to see some snow! Praying for a white Christmas!

Crafting Wonderland

Our apartment has been a mad house lately. Pretty much everywhere you look there is some soft of craft in the process. I imagine it's how the North Pole looks right about now...
Wait, what? That doesn't exist?

In the midst of the DIY chaos and Christmas countdown, I've managed to snag some time to make some little goodies for myself. It's been such a blessing to be able to spend a whole day with my sewing machine and having nothing else on the agenda. I seriously can't believe I went 21 years without knowing how much I could love something! I want to start crocheting next so if anyone has any good tutorials for a scarf or beanie or the like, please let me know!

The skirts were the first peice of clothing that I have made and I was pretty impressed with myself. A special thanks to Caroline for posting such an easy project for beginning the dive into the clothes- making world! I've already gotten several compliments on the blue one. Birthday Trip- Part 2

So, this post is long overdue but I promised it would come! A few weeks ago, Jed and I headed up to Atlanta to celebrate his birthday. We stayed with his aunt and uncle and had tons of fun. If you missed that post, catch it here. This next part was the highlight of my trip!

One of the biggest things that we were excited about was going to Andy Stanley church, North point Church. We go to a satellite church here at home for North point so we listen and watch Andy every week on the screen but even with technology these days, nothing comes close to the real thing. Unfortunately, Andy wasn't speaking that week but that didn't mean it still wasn't awesome. The building itself was larger than a shopping mall and Jed compared the parking lot to that of Disney's. It was huge!

I'm not sure if you all are familiar with Andy Stanley, but he is one of the best speakers I've ever listened to. I grew up listening to his dad on TV (Charles) and once I found out that Andy had a satellite church here in town, I was stoked. Even though his church is one of the biggest in the nation, you would never be able to tell by his attitude or motives. He is extremely humble, down to earth, and mainly focused on expanding the Kingdom. I also really love how his messages relate to life and can apply to almost anyone, no matter what your story is.

When we got there we were walking around like lost puppies, overwhelmed and someone saw us, swooped us up and sat us in the front row. Dead. Center. How awesome was this! Jed and I acted like we just won the lottery! The music was outstanding, the message was incredible and the atmosphere was alive with the Spirit of the Lord. It was such a great experience!

Later that night we found that Louie Giglio's church, Passion City, had a night service that we were able to make. I've listened to Louie online a few times so was familiar with him but not necessarily his church. One of the coolest things about Passion City is that they have awesome singers lead worship like Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman. They also hold service in this huge warehouse that they re-did so it was very industrial- like. Really neat.

Have you ever been to a service where you entered in one person and left a totally different person? Well, this was one of those services. Again, we were able to score front row, center seats in the midst of a huge crowd. All around us were tons of teenagers gathering around the center of the stage waiting for worship to start. Little did we know Christy Knockles would be leading...

It was amazing! I've always loved Christy Knockles so seeing her in person, at church, leading worship was so awesome.

Louie gave such a powerful and inspiring message about the bonds of sin and how there is freedom in our Lord. Ain't that the truth??

Our weekend was amazing and one we will never forget! Can't wait for our next trip to A-town!

Christmas Favorites

Smell: Pine. Cinnamon roles on Christmas morning. Cinnamon sticks.

Tradition: Every Christmas Eve growing up my sister and I got to open one present after Christmas Eve service. We would spend a good amount of time examining which present to choose. I remember one year, however, the present I choose ended up being an NSYNC cd. Sadly, I had yet to get the CD player and my big surprise for Christmas morning was ruined. After that year my mom made sure I picked an acceptable present.

Flower: Poinsettia

Movie: How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Jim Carrey. My best friend, Bethany and I have watched this movie every single year since we first saw it in 6th grade gym class and we constantly quote it throughout the year. It's one of those movies that I laugh at every time I see it and the memories that tag along with it are ones I never wish to forget.

Sight: Disney World's Very Merry Christmas and Cinderella's castle all lit up.

Memory: I can't remember the exact age I was but in elementary school my aunt decided to take us to go see the Nutcracker ballet. I had never seen a ballet before and didn't really understand the no talking part of it but absolutely loved the music and costumes. I bought the CD, a program, and a pair of one of the ballerinas ballet shoes with her picture and signature on them and still have them to this day! Since then, I try and go see the Nutcracker every Christmas I can.

Dislikes: the Christmas commercials and all things related to presents being the center of the season. I hate that our culture focuses more on material objects rather than the true meaning.

Are You There God? It's Me, Mary

Ever ask the question: "When, God?" Ever feel like God is distant from you, far away, or not listening to your cries? Like God has abandoned you or is being inattentive to your needs?

This summer, Jed and I were going through a rough patch in our relationship where we decided to take a break in order to listen to God and see if he was calling us to continue our relationship. This was one of the hardest times of my life. Not knowing if I was meant to stay with the man I loved and being separated from him was heart wrenching. I cried out for God to be near, to comfort me, to give me an answer so I could move forward, whether it be with or without Jed. Yet, I heard nothing. I felt alone, abandoned, lost. I began to question the conviction that I had heard before, thinking that Jed and I could make it work on our own. Maybe what we were hearing wasn't really God speaking to us? Maybe he never intended for us to be apart?

Matthew 11:6 "Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me."

Jesus spoke these words to each one of us. He has called us to never loose faith or sight of him in the midst of our struggles based on what he has or has not done. When God isn't answering our call it doesn't mean he isn't there. He has promised to never leave or forsake us. Whether he embraces us with open arms or sits back and encourages us to press on, he will always love us.

Maybe your situation isn't similar to mine. Maybe you went through an actual heartbreak. The loss of a loved one, an illness or disability, losing your job or not getting the one you want. In any situation you may face, continue to seek him and do not become discouraged if he does not present himself. Look back and remember a time God did come through. Look outside of your current circumstance and reflect.

Our faith should not be based on circumstances but history. History can not be changed, it does not waver, it is forever the same. History tells us Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sin. He took our place on the cross and in return gave us life. That is what our faith should be based on.

I believe that through every circumstance, battle or heartbreak, God is Sovereign. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and that reason being it is part of God's plan for our life. Jed and I were supposed to be apart for that one month. I still am not sure if I know why but God had a plan, I listened and obeyed and in return he gave me love, joy, peace and comfort. Time and time again I am shown that His timing is perfect, yet I still ask him, "When, God? When?"

Coffee Date

I feel we are in need of a coffee date. Some precious moments shared between friends to catch up on life, laugh, and share what is on our hearts.

I would tell you about how this Thanksgiving I wasn't with my family, but a new family. One that I hope to be a part of very soon. I would tell you how we went out on Black Friday to Walmart to buy 3 CrockPots because that's a very extreme yet, real necessity in this family.

I would tell you how the boyfriend bought a new suit for some upcoming PT school interviews and how the sight of him all dressed up made my heart swoon.

I would share with you how I have been feeling far from God lately. Distracted by a whirlwind of the past two weeks and how I never got a moment to stop and be still, even though I desperately needed to. I would ask you to pray for me.

I would tell you about how I went and saw my dad for the first time in a long time and how it made my day. About how these days, the little things are truly all the matters with us.

I would tell you about this next week and the internship I have. About how I'm bunking up with my aunt for the next few days and loving it. I would show you the awesome lab coat I get to wear and probably model it for you. I would also probably tell you that I'm scared out of my mind because I feel like I know nothing and will be a total embarrassment.

I would share pictures of my darling niece and nephews and tell you about how much I love and miss them. You would definitely smile at the sight of them.

I would tell you about how I had a lunch date with my best friend from high school today. How I haven't seen her in 2 years yet it felt like we never left that town. How comforting it is to have such good friendships and how I miss her dearly.

I would tell you all about my plans for this next coming year. Just how exciting of a year it will be. I would ask you what you want your next year of life to look like and what you are looking forward to, your hopes, dreams, and goals.

I would tell you about how giddy I am to be spending Christmas with Jed this year and ask you about the loved ones you're spending the holiday with. I would ask you about your Christmas traditions and share mine with you.

Lastly, I would tell you just how blessed I am to be able to share my life with you. How over the past year my world has changed drastically but how it has been an absolute wonderful journey. I would ask you to visit me often, share your life with me and invite me into your world.

Hi Lily White readers! I am Jen and I blog over at Jennifer March. I am so happy to be posting on Mary’s beautiful blog today. I just love Mary- and I’m a huge fan of her hair accessories and blog design skills (she designed mine and I love it!). Today I am going to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving by talking about 3 things that I am thankful for!

1. I am thankful for my family. My mom, dad, and sister are also my best friends. All 3 of them always support me in everything I do. My mom and sister listen to my endless guy-troubles without complaining (and I know how annoying it is!). They hang out with me all the time and make me laugh. I almost lost my dad this summer to a horrible disease, but I am so lucky to still have him here today by the works of God and a miracle. He has been the best father and provided me with everything I’ve ever needed.

2. This goes along with family but I am thankful for my dogs. They never fail to make me smile when I walk through my dad’s door. Lilly is a crazy 110 pound ball of energy, and Daisy is my best friend in the world. Through some serious problems in my childhood she served as my backbone, the one I could curl up with on the floor and cry into her fur. I also almost lost her to cancer but she had an operation and I am lucky to still have her here today. I love her so much. And her birthday is on thanksgiving this year~ my old girl is going to be 12!

3. I am thankful for the basics. We are blessed with so much and I think it’s important to take time out of each day to acknowledge it. When I wake up in the morning, I thank God for these blessings- the warm bed I am waking up in, the food I will be able to eat all day long, my job, a roof over my head, electricity, etc. These may be common to us but there are so many people in the world who do not have these things!

Happy Friday, Friends!

this week has been rough.
post- vacation blues.
~~studying~~ cramming sessions.
spending all day in the house.
hot weather.
test taking.
sick boyfriend and roommate.

I think it's safe to say I'm glad it's almost the weekend!
I'm looking forward to:
catching up on some reading.
dates with the boyfriend.
cooking and baking.
eating some pie.
sleeping in.
making saturday morning breakfast
wearing pajamas all day.

But between all the studying and stressing I managed to have somewhat of a life this week.

1. Pretty trees that have colors you don't see down here in the 'ole FL

2. A lake- we do have these but this one was extra pretty.

3. Meet Nathan. He was my best friend this weekend in Atlanta. He's named after Nathan's hotdogs. Cause he's a dachshund... get it?! clever.

4. the HOME THEATER I was telling you all about. See, couldn't you just curl up and never leave? Well, you could. I'm living proof.

5. Hey, that's me!

6. My new FAVORITE coffee place. It was decorated like a cabin inside. I was hooked from the moment I walked in.

7. And if the decor didn't steal my heart, the cups did. No, but seriously. This was some of the best coffee I've had from a chain place. Yet another reason to move out of FL.

8. That there is my breakfast.

9-13. This is the result of Trader Joe's marketing. Me buying a ton of their stuff just because the package is cute. I'm a sucker for bright colors.

14. LOUIE GIGLIO'S CHURCH! More coming on that next week but let me sum up the experience for you in one word: AMAZING.

15. The best almond milk my little tongue has ever tasted. The thought of it grossed me out at first but then I took a sip and became a believer. It's yummy and healthy and goes great with oatmeal. Trust me on this one.

16. Peanut butter brownie with butter pecan frozen yogurt. Enough said.

17. Tomatoes + cucumber + balsamic vinegar and oil + italian seasoning, oregano, salt and pepper = a delicious and healthy little treat!

A while ago, a friend of mine came to me with some heavy stuff on her heart. Almost too heavy for me to handle. Recently, she confided in me that she was fighting demons and had an overwhelming amount of anxiety in her heart.

My heart aches for this dear friend of mine. For events in her life that have lead her to this place. For the troubles that she has had to face during her short time on this earth. For the ways that Satan has crept into her life and taken hold of things she values and protects. I tried to offer words of comfort, but none came. I tried to understand just exactly where she is coming from, but I can't. After listening and offering scattered words of acknowledgement and hope, I realized the only thing I can do is pray.

Pray for healing. For comfort, peace, and love. Pray that even though she is hundreds of miles away, she can feel my hugs and take comfort in the fact that I am sharing her burdens and tears.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

In life, Satan has a subtle way of creeping into our hearts and taking hold of things that we hold dear. He disguises himself as truth and faintly whispers lies into our ears, locking us into our own personal prisons. How do we become free? How do we escape? How can we know truth? Just as a prisoner is held into his cell with a lock, we are locked in our sin. Each scenario requires freedom through a key. Luckily as a Christian, my key is sitting right beside my bed. It is His Word that sets us free. Rooting ourselves, our plans, our every action, word, thought, and dream in His truth leads to our freedom.

On the contrary to the above, how often do we let Satan take control? How often do we allow him to enterinto our lives knowingly and welcome him with open arms? The thought of thissickens me yet, I've done it time and time again. I can look back on past aswell as present times when I have known that whatever action, word, thought,activity I am about to partake in is clear as day SIN yet, I continue on.Sometimes because it's just easier to sin than to do what is right. In somecases its more fun to sin than to hold to your values and morals. Sometimes Ijust don't care about doing what I know is wrong. I send out an personal invitefor the devil to have a little place in my heart and to even take up residency.But he's not the one who is paying for his room and board; I am. It is my prayer to become intolerant to sin. To recognize its place in my life and kick it out, holding onto truth for dear life.

John 8: 31-32 "Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

I pray for my friend as she is suffering consequences not of her own doing but of the devil's. I pray that she finds comfort and peace in our Lord. That he will wrap her up in her arms, hold her in His embrace and wipe away every tear. That she, too, will grasp onto the key of truth, open up the lock and break free from her prison.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

This was a really hard post for me to write. Recently, Satan has been whispering the lie into my ear that I am not adequate enough. That I am not a good enough Christian, that I don't know what I'm talking about and that I don't have what it takes to share the Gospel. I've been held captive in a prison of inadequacy and low self worth. I re-read and re-wrote this post a dozen times, never feeling it was good enough to share with the world. This mindset is exactly what Satan was trying to achieve in me, because with lack of confidence, there is a lack of sharing the message of our Lord. I'm so glad to say Satan didn't conquer me this time.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Birthday Trip- Part 1

This weekend was one for the memory books.

Jed and I headed up to Atlanta to continue the celebration of his birthday. I had a four day weekend so we thought it would be fun to visit his Aunt and Uncle and explore the city!

I don't think I can explain just how amazed I was with all the beautiful trees. You don't get sites like this in Florida.

On the way up, we stopped at a gas station and saw tons of cotton on the side of the road. So, we decided to explore and found the most beautiful cotton field. I haven't seen a cotton field since I was younger and Jed had never seen one so once again, we were enthralled. (We even took some home for a souvenir... don't tell!)

It was so fun to meet his Aunt and Uncle and visit with them. They had two little dachshunds that i fell in love with and their house was absolutely gorgeous. His Aunt was an excellent cook and made us breakfast and dinner every night. We were definitely spoiled. However, I think my favorite part though was their home theater. Yes, I said home theater.

It. was. awesome. We watched 3 movies in the span of two days.

Our first day we decided to head over to Piedmont Park and walk around and take some pictures. It was so pretty there.

The weather was gorgeous and it reminded me a lot of Central Park but way less busy.

We then went to lunch at The Varsity. I had been there before but Jed had never so it was essential to check this off our list.

We had such a great time! Stay tuned for the next (and my favorite) part of our weekend!

I'm writing this post in the car on the way to Atlanta for the weekend to celebrate the boyfriends birthday!! The weather is perfect and the changing leave and cool air makes it officially feel like Fall. Needless to say, I'm in love!

The Liebster Award

First, a little update on life:
Monday was the boyfriends birthday. Since it was a school/ work day we weren't able to do anything too fancy schmancy. (but we are celebrating this weekend! :) more on that later). However, birthdays are special and so I did my best to make it a good day for him, because he truly deserves it! Here are some of the days events.

Amazing brownies that I made for him the night before. They were awesome.

Left these for him on the doorstep at his work. I prayed as I pulled away a raccoon wouldn't get into them... thankfully they arrived in his hands, and soon after, his belly, safe and sound.

A little mid-day catnap because it was "his birthday and I can do what I want." Apparently 23 year olds are sassy.

The watch I almost forgot to give him. If you can tell, it was 11:30pm... so I was cuttin it close.

One of the best meals we've made together. Steak, Parmesan breaded potatoes and the most delicious brown butter and Parmesan orzo.

It was a pretty rad birthday if I do say so myself :)

I've introduced you all to Bethany before. She's my bff, my other half, my oldest and dearest friend. Not only does she inspire me through her writing but has been with me throughout multiple stages of life in the thick and thin. I'm so blessed to be able to call her my best friend and love her to death. You will too!

Gennean is a new friend. We actually just "met" last night. And by met, I mean I heard her voice along with 6 others via a rather large Bible study skype date. I instantly knew I liked her though! Her blog is packed with inspiration and encouragement and I can't wait to become better friends! Hop on over and check her out :)

Katie is the newest addition to my blog feed. She just started her blog and if I do say myself, started it off with a bang! This girl is like my long lost twin. We enjoy all the same guilty pleasures and I can just picture a day together filled with Starbucks, watching Glee, and oogling over the Hunger Games. Join her in her blogging journey!

I'm setting off on a new adventure, and I'd love for you to join me!

I recently discovered a new passion for design. It really challenges me, brings out the creative bug in me and just plain makes me happy. I've given my sisters blog a little makeover and am currently in the beginning stages of another project. I'm very very new to the world of design but loving the excitement and thrill!

1. I am currently reading Unbroken and love it... it's such an inspiring story.

2. This will be the first Thanksgiving I don't spend with my mom. I'm pretty sad about it.

3. I've recently discovered a new love for design. Might be switching up the Etsy shop soon...

4. I own the entire series of Friends, Gilmore Girls, and The Office. I'm a TV junkie.

5. When I was younger I used to always read this book on Halloween. Loved it.

6. I went on my first and last blind date in undergrad. It was terrible and I hated every minute of it. Bad idea.

7. I have a very large fear of talking in front of big crowds. It's gotten better over time but I still get anxiety just thinking about it.

8. I am super excited to be starting an online Bible study with Megan, some other lovely women, and this book.

9. I'm homemaking all my Christmas gifts this year and am SUPER excited for it! Pinterest and I are about to become BFF's (as if we aren't already).

10. I get SUPER excited when I get new followers and make new friends. I've "met" such great girls through blogging and I can't wait to make more!

Priorities

There never seems to be enough time in the day. Time to do work, go to school or study. To eat, sleep and do all the necessary things that make you look human. To watch that TV show that's on tonight or write that blog post you've been composing in your head. How in the world are we supposed to fit that all in in 24 hours?

At my church the current series we are on is all about how we spend our time, what we do with it, and how from God's perspective, our life is quicker than a snap of two fingers. This Sunday the message was all about prioritizing the precious time we are given.

Take away message: The key to getting as much done in your day, month, and life is prioritizing.

Priority determines capacity.

What are the most important things in your life? Who is the most important? Maybe it's your career, your kids, your spouse, your relationship with God. Now, what do you put first when you wake up in the morning? Do you instantly pray a prayer of thanks to God for blessing you with another day of life or do you get on the computer and check twitter? I know for me it's most always the latter...

Matthew 6:33 "Seek first the Kingdom of God"

Am I seeking Him first? Do I put him before school, my boyfriend, my friends, twitter, facebook, this blog? Sadly, I don't. It's so easy for me to get caught up in the lie that it's much more important for me to watch that TV show instead of do my quiet time. I hate that. How can I say that I love God, strive to live every aspect of my life for His glory, yet put Him on the back burner of my life?

God longs for us to be His number one, to spend time with Him, to invite Him into every part of our day. He is jealous for us. Have you ever experienced that feeling of missing a loved one after not seeing them for a long time? Remember that feeling of longing, hope, and counting down the days till you are reunited? I can only imagine how God feels when His children are far away from Him. How desperate he is for our attention and how much joy our return brings Him.

A challenge was presented at the end of the message to make it a priority (our number one) to dedicate the first few moments of our day to our Creator. To surrender our day, our time and our lives to Him. The past few days I have taken this challenge, creating my own version of The Lord's Prayer and saying it first thing when I wake up. It has made a huge difference in my days. I'm able reorient my day around the Lord and put the things that truly matter first. Submitting my day to the Lord erases my worries of my schedule and allows me to say no to the things that don't matter and yes to the things that do.

I challenge you to submit your days to the Lord first thing in the morning. It will be worth it!

Pumpkins Galore

This weekend, Jed hit a milestone.

He carved his very first pumpkin!

I'm so proud of my little man ;)

Pumpkin carving has become a tradition for me over the past few years that I welcome with open arms.

Besides the delicious seeds and the opportunity to play with a carving kit, I just love to see that little guy glow.

This year we took the corny route

*Funny side note: My roommates name is Mary (MK) as well and her boyfriend's name is Jared. (J and M) So, this pumpkin it sitting proudly on our front porch and works for both of its residents! However, she wants no part in it. I guess we're too gushy for her :)

MK also had her Water Polo team over for carving and I jumped at the opportunity to get some photography practice in.

My Story- Part 3

He introduced himself to me on the way into class but, I already knew who he was. I noticed him since the first day. He sat in the back row and always did this thing with his pen, twisting it around his fingers. It drove me insane. As I walked into class I flashed a shy smile, sat down and wondered who this boy was. When I asked a friend his name she laughed and responded,"Jed".

A couple weeks later we were in class. He was sitting right in front of me, turned around and asked me out to lunch. I was completely caught off guard and told him I couldn't. Feeling bad for denying him so quickly, I sent him a message later and explained the situation. I had just broken up with my boyfriend of 2 years and didn't want to start anything new just yet. He responded, said he understood and told me the offer still stood if I ever changed my mind. Not thinking anything else of it, I said okay and went on my separate way. Little did I know this boy would change my life forever.

The rest was history. Our story started off like many others. Excitement with every text, phone call and interaction. Asking about every little detail of each others lives, wanting to know more and more about each other. Laughing, blushing, and staying up way too late talking. We began to study together every day and each one he somehow managed to ask me out, yet I still kept saying no. I tried not to fall for him, wanting to respect my previous relationship and guard my heart. After a while I couldn't help it. I wanted to be around him all the time, he was the only thing I thought about and I was ready to take our relationship to the next step.

We wanted God to be in the center of our relationship. We were both strong believers and while we quite often fell away from this goal many times, it was always the most important thing for us. We would discuss our beliefs, pray together, talk about our relationship with God and lean on each other during hard times. Throughout our relationship I drew closer to the Lord and grew deeper in my faith. I learned to trust God with my entire life, my future, all of my plans.

He is my support. My best friend. He encourages me, challenges me, inspires me to improve myself. He brings me to tears with laughter, dances with me in the kitchen, makes my coffee for me before he leaves at night and takes me on dates in the middle of the week. He shares his secrets with me, revealing deep and dark parts of his past. He encourages me to do the same and embraces my faults without judgement. He is my gift from God, a small taste of heaven on earth.

This part of my story is a recognition of God's great love for me as well as a celebration of his goodness. He has shown his love for me through bringing Jed into my life and using him as an example of His unconditional love, grace and mercy. I am forgiven when I don't deserve it. He serves me when I don't always reciprocate. He loves me when I show anything but love towards him. As we draw closer to the Lord we are drawn closer together. Our story is one I have always prayed for and I feel secure, safe and precious in his eyes. He is the closest thing to experiencing God's love on earth that I have ever had and even though I have disappointed him, failed him, and have not always expressed love towards him, he has always forgiven me, always cared for me and loves me more each and every day.

As this part of my story brings me to my current stage in life, I would like to emphasize that while I may have put it down on paper, God is the true author of this story. He has written every single detail, perfected every little area, and continues to work in me. As I look back, I see how hard and difficult times were necessary, how happy and good times were a blessing and how each and every season I have gone through has taught me important lessons that have given me hope for the future.

I praise God for giving me experiences that allow others to draw closer to Him, for blessing me with such a wonderful and painless life and for the people he has given and taken away from me. My story is written perfectly.

I pray my story has allowed you to learn more about who I am, who God has molded me to become, and has drawn you closer to Him as a result. I also encourage you to out your story out on paper. It is a great reminder of God's endless and unwavering love!

1. A little part of me has always wanted to live in Boston. Just for a short while.

2. I can't wait to be a momma. I have my babies names already picked out and dream of making all the cute things I see on pinterest for them.

3. I've always loved the idea of traveling Europe. I think a lot of it accounts to my aunt telling me stories of her travels while I was growing up. She saw and experienced so many things and I have always had the same longing.

4. I want a small wedding outside surrounded by nature. It's the place I've always felt closest to the Lord and it would be the perfect place to begin my new life.

5. I want to do mission work related to therapy once I'm in the field for a while, hopefully alongside my hubby.

6. I'd love to take my photography to the next level and have a small business one day.

7. As a big challenge to myself, I want to run... and finish... a half marathon.

8. I dream of working with women victims of sexual trafficking, sharing God's love for them and working with them to reinvent their lives.

9. I want to be that mom and wife that cooks homemade dinners (almost) every night and makes it a point to sit down at the table together as a family and share our day.

10. I want to be happy with my life, having no regrets or wishes for do- overs. I want for God to always be the center of my life, my relationships and my family.

Little Walk on the Prairie

This weekend, The Boy and I embraced Fall.

With camera's in tow, we went for a walk on the Prairie.

The sky couldn't have been bluer.
The conversation couldn't have been sweeter.
The memories couldn't be fonder.

On the way back to the car we took a wrong turn and ended up walking 3 miles extra.

In the end, it was just more time spent together.

These are the moments that make me laugh, fall more in love, and praise God for giving me such a wonderful blessing.

My Story- Part 2

I loved high school. During those 4 years I made memories that I will always remember and was surrounded by great friends that were real and genuine. I lived in a small town so there wasn't much to do but hang out at each others house, go to the beach, or drive around the orange groves. It was simple, easy, fun.

I never thought about college in high school. I didn't really understand that the next four years to come I would become a totally different person. That the people I thought I would never lose I would no longer speak to. We would go our separate ways, find new friends and make new memories.

My freshman year in college I refused to let this become the reality. I'd call my best friends every week, tell them about what I'm doing, what my classes were like and that I joined a sorority... something I never thought I would do. Most of them were surprised at this since it didn't seem like me. However, I was convinced it was a good decision. I didn't know anyone so it would be my best bet at making a whole new group of friends. In the end, I was right. I did make new friends. I joined a group of people that I would make new memories with, that would change my life and ultimately would change who I was.

It didn't take long for college to affect me. Within the first year I was already changing. I had my first drink, started my first college relationship and was loving that I was completely without a curfew. I was part of a sorority and in a house full of girls that soon became my best friends. However, during the next couple years I lost friends from high school, lost myself, strayed away from God and put my morals and good judgement on the back burner. Wasn't this, in fact, the college experience? Weren't these were supposedly the best years of my life? The ones that were almost dispensable once I graduated and where all my bad decisions became free passes? I was convinced they were. I had great friends that were there for me, that influenced me, encouraged me and even praised me for my decisions rather than judging them. I wasn't doing anything wrong, I was just different, changing, growing up.

Until that summer. It was the summer before my Junior year. I decided to stay and take classes at school and was living by myself while all of my friends were at home. I broke up with my boyfriend of 2 years and first the first time I was completely alone and the town that I once loved I began to hate. I so desperately wanted to go home. I needed my mom, to see my old friends, to let the ocean water wash away all of my worries. Sadly, this wasn't an option. It was during this summer my entire life changed. My dad became sick, my mom was dealing with her own demons, and my home was unsafe. After 26+ years of marriage, my parents decided to get divorced. I felt alone, confused, broken. My life was out of my control and there was no other place for me to go but on my knees. I was without a home on this earth but soon rediscovered my home, my life, my place in the arms of my Savior. After two years of ignoring God, he broke me down to my very core, brought me to my rock bottom and held me in His arms and it was here I finally found peace and safety.

I didn't deserve that love. Didn't he know what I had been doing? How many people I hurt? How many friendships I ruined? Didn't he see how I spent my days, my nights? How could he still love me after that? Couldn't he see what my heart looked like? How much filth was in it? How damaged and dirty it was? I was no longer that sweet girl in high school. The one who took pride in her beliefs and influenced others. Rather, I let others influence me. I became part of this world. I so desperately wanted to fit in, to not follow the rules, to "live" a little the best way I saw how. I never saw immediate consequences and thus, I fell deeper in. The person I became was unrecognizable, even to myself. Yet, God never lost sight of me. He was with me the entire time, waiting to catch me when I fell. He was working in me throughout those years and loved me in spite of how far I fell.

At the time, that summer seemed to be the worst one I ever had. Never had I felt so utterly and completely alone. I think I cried more than I ever had and hopefully ever will. But looking back, I needed that summer. I needed to be broken, alone. To speak less and listen more. It was during that time I turned back to my Father. I felt his presence surround me every single day in a way that was almost tangible. I heard him speak to me through every thought that I had, every action I made and every word I spoke. I didn't need the presence of any other living soul, he was more than enough for me. I was done trying to make it on my own, to take control of my life. I turned back to my Savior and since then have never looked back.

Ephesians 4:17 "Do not continue living like those who do not believe."

Thankfully, the next part of my story is a happy one.

Ephesians 4:2 "Always be humble, gentle, patient, accepting each other in love."

Love.

How often do I accept others in love? Am I more prone to say words of kindness about someone, or tearing them down? Do I express more love or hate towards people? Do I judge more than I love unconditionally? How often do I choose to love someone over being annoyed, upset, mean, or hateful? Do I love others like Jesus loves me? Am I an example of God's love to those around me, his children?

Patience.

How is my attitude towards others when I am in a hurry? What about when I want something really bad and want to do everything but wait? Do I remain calm and sensible or do I snap? When people disappoint me, do I get mad or do I choose to exude patience and forgiveness? Do I take things into my own hands rather than wait for God's perfect timing?

Gentle.

What are my words like towards others? Am I opinionated or short with my responses? Or am I gentle and loving, kind and cautious with my words? When someone is in need of my time am I open and receiving or am I too busy to show them love? Am I sensitive to others feelings or do I think about mine over theirs?

Humble.

Am I boastful with my accomplishments? Do I seek approval for what I have produced? Do I tear others down in order to build myself up? Do I account all of my riches on this earth to the Lord or to myself? Am I jealous of others because of their success? Do I envy what others have and I do not? Is it easy for my to admit failure? To say that I was wrong? To ask for forgiveness?

Isn't is amazing how one small verse with 10 little words can be so much deeper than just that? How much a life can change by obeying it's command? How different my life and the lives of others would be if every question above had the answer of "yes" instead of "no"?

Personal challenge for today... do just that. Turn a "no" into a "Yes!!!".

My Story- Part 1

I have been a Christian since I was 7 years old. There was an invitation in Vacation Bible School to accept Jesus as your Savior and I did. Growing up in a Christian household and attending church since birth has allowed me to become immersed in the Word for my entire life. At the age of 13 I was baptized and recommitted my life to being a follower of God. I went to Sunday School, Wednesday night service and youth group every week. I attended camps, retreats, and conferences. I was in small groups, Bible studies and participated in local mission work. The Word of God was constantly being poured into me in every single stage of my life. However, despite my upbringing, I still managed to fail and to stray away from my beliefs. I fell in ways I never would have anticipated, spiritually, emotionally and physically. I compromised my values that were instilled in me since a young age and I became lost, distant, and far from God.

When I was 16 years old I decided that it was time for me to date. Yes, that's right, I decided. My parents never really had rules (at least that I was aware of) about when I was or wasn't allowed to start dating, and at this very wise and mature age I felt I was ready. I guess most of these feelings were the result of falling for "that boy who plays drums." He was the guy every girl wanted. He looked at me in a way that my young, innocent and girlish ways couldn't resist. I fell for him hard and fast. He treated me like a queen, spoiling me with presents and dates weekly. Blowing off his friends to spend time with me, in which I followed suit. Calling me at night and talking for hours after spending a whole day together. Telling me that he has fallen in love with me in which I responded that yes, I had fallen in love with him too. He wasn't a Christian, but I was convinced that that wouldn't affect me, that I would be a good influence on him and change him for the better. Ever heard of missionary dating? It was my mission to get him saved. To make him into the boy that I wanted him to be. However, it didn't work. Instead, he turned me into the girl he wanted me to be. Throughout those two years I lost friends, fell far away from God and made him my number one priority. I chose everything over him, including my morals and beliefs. Consequently, I ended up giving him pieces of my heart that weren't his to have and in the end was left broken, feeling inadequate, unsalvageable, and anything but loved.

Looking back, I still have mixed feelings about this relationship. I am a full believer in God working through every situation of my life for a reason and a purpose. I still don't know, and am sure I never will, the reason that God placed this particular boy in my life. Maybe I did have an impact on him and wasn't aware of it? Maybe God needed to break me in some of the most fragile ways in order for me to turn back to him. Maybe there was no other reason but to be able to look back on a time in my life when I was away from Him in order to recognize how lost I am without him. Despite all the bad, I can see many positive things that came out of this season of my life. Things that have made me who I am today. Lessons that I learned and took into my next relationships. Memories of my teenage years that will forever remain with me. Yet, I still regret the relationship. It lead me to fall, to abandon God, my faith and everything that my life had been so firmly built upon. Not only did I fail my Heavenly Father but I also failed my parents and my friends, leading to even more brokenness and hurt.

My failure and inadequacy didn't end with this season. It's still occurring each and every day. I will constantly fail promises that I make to myself, to others around me, to my Savior. I will never be without sin in my life and sometimes that is a hard concept to swallow. It is exhausting to fail over and over again. To try my best just to come up short. Yet I know that in all things, God is with me. There are seasons in our lives where we may fall away from God, abandon him and everything we have held onto, yet he is still faithful. Always with us, never leaving or forsaking us. I didn't deserve his love for me during that time and I will forever be undeserving of his love. However, I will still praise his name. No matter what heartache and brokenness I may face in the future, his unconditional, unwavering and endless love will always prove to be enough.

Fickle

I have never been good with decisions.

If my mom only had one word to describe me with it would be fickle.

Fun Facts Friday [5]

This week has been rough. Ever have one of those weeks? Where it is full of tons of things you have to do and absolutely no time for things you want to do? Exams do that to me, they suck the life out of everything! However, Friday has come. Beautiful, glorious Friday. Tons of things to love about this day... number one being buying the new iPhone on preorder :) Other things I've been dying to do this week include vacuuming, doing laundry and cleaning my room. It's so fun being a grown up. Also, it's this girl's birthday, so head on over there are send her some love!

Yesterday I did a little updating to my sisters blog and love it! She has 3 darling babes who needed a prettier place to be shown off.

I made a new header and added some pictures and buttons. I forgot to take a before picture but I am pretty happy with the result. Being a perfectionist, however, I only see things I want to change!

Here are your facts, friends

1. I name most of my inanimate objects. My old car was Mibica (Mare Bear's car said really fast), my new car is Boo... because it's blue, my clarinets were Clara and Clarence, and my sewing machine Sue.

2. I absolutely love going to Savannah, GA

3. I was born in the same hospital as my mom, aunt and sister

4. I grew up in the same house that my mom and aunt grew up in

5. I've really only ever liked Christian and country music

6. My first job was at Banana Republic Factory store

7. I've only ever had 3 real jobs and one only lasted for 2 weeks

8. I love going to thrift stores and garage sales and used to wake up really early Saturday mornings to go with my parents.

9. I have worn glasses/ contacts since 6th grade

10. I hate being the center of attention, thus I never had birthday parties growing up on my own accord.

Hopefully none of these are repeats! Thanks to my mom for sending me some facts from childhood I forgot about!

Stolen Innocence // Shop to Save

Sexual Trafficking.

That's what happens in 3rd world countries, right? In places only where there is extreme poverty and famine? Not in our country that is founded on liberty and freedom. Not in our homes to our American girls.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. This industry is alive, active and growing internationally. It is increasing it's number of victims each and every day. Our girls. Our daughters. Sisters. Nieces. Granddaughters. Children as young as 5 years old. Captured and sold into this industry.

Can you imagine this? Stop and think about it for a second. Your free will, modesty, innocence and life all being stolen away from you in an instant with no end in sight.

It's estimated that each and every year 1.2 million children will be forced into sexual slavery. Did you read that?!

We have the power to save the innocence of childhood of many young girls and woman all around the world. We have the power to change their lives.

I refuse to do nothing.

This horror is being brought to light as of late as awareness and efforts to help victims increases. Along with increasing efforts raising awareness, this month I hope you will join me in the battle and Shop to Save. 100% of proceeds from my shop will go to International Crisis Aid to help girls victim of sexual trafficking. Money raised will go towards safe houses, medical clinics, feeding programs, and rebuilding homes and communities.
